About CLA
A forerunner of Consultants of Landscape Architecture in Japan dates back to birth of the "design office alliance" for 1964 ,when IFLA（International Federation of Landscape Architects ） Congress was held at Tokyo & Kyoto.The name JLCA（Japan Landscape Consultant Association） began to be used from April, 1977. The authorization of the Ministry of Construction is received as an organization of official recognition in April, 1985, and the twelfth anniversary is had from the establishment.

A member increases annually, and now 160 Japanese major landscape design companies join it.

The constitution landscape architects and engineer number reaches about 4000 persons.

Since the establishment of an association, the Japanese economy world environment developed by leaps and bounds.

However, in the arrival of genuine aging society and development of information and internationalization, we are asked what the true richness is .So the social request that creation of new environment culture that took into account security of safety of a city is necessary for rises year by year.Environment problem of the earth scale comes to threaten now and a life of mankind, and an answer about " person and natural symbiosis "is demanded from us.

We recognize the social role that we should fulfill now fully, and is aiming at contributing to the 21st century world by creating new environment culture.

From 15th July, 1998,we have changed the name to Consultants of Landscape Architecture in Japan(CLA).

Basic posture
We secure improvement and safety of quality of the whole life space of open space of a garden and parks and a city, and we deal with environment creation through the formation of rich landscape.We have a general field of vision where every field and technical cooperation concerned are possible by handling original technology. New symbiosis theory is established, and we increase aiming at synthesis producer.

And we connect nature with a person generalizing a field concerned. The person who generalizes a field concerned Nature is joined by.We have a field of vision of the earth scale, and we deal with global activity.

Requirement for Memberships(CLA) :
Articles of association are Japanese versions currently
  1. Member of CLA should be a corporation, which carry on office of landscape architecture.
  2. Member corporation should be registered as construction consultant (landscape architecture section：Ｍministry of Construction).
  3. Member Company should employ more than 1 professional engineer accredited by Professional Engineer's Act or more than 3 senior landscape architect approved by JLA.
National/Other Professional Registration:
  1. Professional Engineer (PE)
  2. Registered Civil engineering Consulting Manager: Landscape Division (RCCM)
  3. Master of Landscape Architecture (JLA membership base)
